Jogging/walking on a treadmill is the closest thing you can get to being outside. Treadmills are also great because you can easily keep up with your speed and distance.

This exercise burns more calories than any other cardio exercise. There are many gimmicks and commercials that claims to burn more but there is not a better cardio exercise. The key to losing weight while jogging is to build your endurance up so you can jog the same distance in a shorter time.

Elliptical Trainer

If running or jogging is not your cup of tea, try the elliptical machine. Although it doesn't burn as many calories as jogging, it is still effective. Many people choose the elliptical machine because it is less stressful on the knees. The key to losing weight is to make sure you are increasing the intensity and distance of your strides.

High Intensity Interval Training for 30 minutes with the following program
5 minutes of moderate paced warm up
Alternating High/Moderate pace starting at the 5 minute mark
30 seconds high
90 seconds moderate
30 seconds high
90 seconds moderate
Repeat til you hit the 25 minute mark
Complete your H.I.I.T Session with 5 minutes of moderate pace til you reach the 30 minute mark.
