Food servings-How many servings should you eat

E-mail Print
pears.jpgThe food guide pyramid suggests a range of servings from each of the five food groups. The number of servings you need from each group depends on the individual calorie needs. In all cases, be sure to eat at least the lowest number of servings in each of the groups, choosing a variety of different foods. This promotes a balanced diet, and provides the nutrients your body needs every day.

  • Bread and Grain Group 6- 11 servings

  • Vegetable group 3-5 servings

  • Fruit Group 2-4 servings

  • Meat and protein group 2-3 servings

  • Milk Group 2-3 servings

  • Fats, Oils, and Sugars eat sparingly
