Cholesterol is a fatty substance found only in animal products, including beef, chicken, fish, cheese, eggs, and milk. Eating foods high in cholesterol will raise the level of cholesterol in your blood. However, eating certain types of fat will raise your blood cholesterol even more.
Once inside your body, cholesterol combines with other substances to form lipoproteins. There are two types of lipoproteins: LDLs(low-density lipoproteins, the bad cholesterol) and HDLs (high-density lipoproteins, the good cholesterol). If you have too many LDLs, they stick to the walls of your arteries, gradually obstructing your blood flow. HDL, meanwhile, act as vacuum cleaners within your bloodstream, removing the bad lipoproteins from your body.
